For over 40 years, the Carthay Square Neighborhood Association has worked to make our neighborhood a better place to live.

The association is led by an elected board of 10 members who serve 2-year terms. All 10 seats are open in this year’s elections. Won’t you consider volunteering?

Who is eligible to be a board member?

  • Carthay Square residents and property owners
  • Members of the association. You can join here if you haven’t already.
  • You must have donated at least a $50 to the association in 2024. Donation link is here.

What’s required of board members?

  • Advocate for the interests of the community for a 2-year term
  • Attend board meetings (usually 8 – 10 per year on weekday evenings)
  • Participate in running the organization (facilitate meetings, canvas with neighbors, meet with public officials, prepare communications, help with fundraising)
  • Help organize neighborhood events such as a block party
  • Collaborate with other members and the community in a respectful manner

How do I apply for a board seat?

  • Copy and paste the information below in an email to carthaysquarena@gmail.com
  • Fill out the information requested and send the email by January 27, 2025 (end of day)
  • Candidates’ names and personal statements will be posted on carthaysquare.org during the election period so the community can make an informed voting decision.

How will the election work?

  • If there are more than 10 qualified candidates, an election will be held online. Voting will take place in Febuary 2025.
  • Candidate statements will be posted on the neighborhood website.
  • Voting will be open to all Carthay Square Neighborhood Association members. You can join here if you haven’t already.
  • Voters will review the candidate statements and vote for their top 10 candidates.
  • Voters will be asked to certify that they live, work or own property in Carthay Square.
  • An independent group will tally the votes and will announce the results within 1 week after the election.
  • If there are 10 or fewer eligible candidates, all will be seated; there will be no election.
