Carthay Square is adjacent to two other “Carthays”: Carthay Circle to our north and South Carthay to our west. Most homes in these neighborhoods date from the 1920s and 1930s. All three have been designated by the City of Los Angeles as Historical Preservation Overlay Zones.
Our active neighborhood association advocates for the interests of residents and fosters a sense of community. We are also represented by the PICO Neighborhood Council, which includes 11 neighborhoods.
We enjoy living in a quiet residential neighborhood that’s close to the best LA has to offer. Whether you want to drive, take transit, walk or bike, it won’t take long to get from Carthay Square to your destination!

The school opens its grounds to the public for recreational purposes on Sundays.
LACES, the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, is a magnet school for middle and high school grades, located a few blocks south of Carthay Square.
Shalhevet High School is one of several excellent private schools nearby.
Transportation Options
Carthay Square is usually close to where we need to go by car! We also have great public transportation options:
Express and local buses run along Olympic, Pico, Fairfax and La Cienega. Travel times are faster than you might think: You can get to Downtown LA or Hollywood/Highland in about 30 minutes and to downtown Santa Monica in about 45 minutes.
A new subway station is under construction at Fairfax/Wilshire, only a half mile from Carthay Square. The Metro Expo line has stations just south of Carthay square, and has frequent trains to downtown and the Santa Monica beach.
